Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens

You just might be in New England. You might also be interested in gardens, (most likely, if you’re on this website), and stonework, and sculpture. You may also have a child or several in tow and are looking for a fun excursion for adults and kids. ┬áIf this sounds like something up your alley, you might want to take a road trip to visit the Coastal Maine Botanical Garden.

We visited in August, and these were some of the most photogenic subjects:

And there is a whole of a lot more than you see here.

  1. Yes-
    It’s worth every ones time!
We were just there yesterday wrapping up our Maine vacation.
We discovered quite a few new additions too, wider walk ways, It was so sweet to see an elderly woman enjoying the woodland gardens on her scooter!
The children’s garden was by far our favorite! Loved the three whale heads with their fine water spouts-And the clothes line was just perfect. Reminded me of growing up.
Did you find the bear cave? I just had to go in….
I also was pleasantly surprised to find new plants I had never heard of/or seen!
    Veratrum formosanum in particular.
Echinacea ‘Hot Papaya’ was-wow growing like mad too!
All in all a great way to spend the day.
    Great cafe too.

  2. We agree Crystal. It is so family oriented without being too elementary. There is humor and sophistication throughout. We were impressed with how many plants were thriving in their zone, but then they are right near the coast.
We are looking forward to our next visit.
